When Do I Have to Have an A-133 Audit Done?

An A-133 Audit is done when you receive grants from granting agencies such as the National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Energy (DOE), and have expenditures of over $750,000 in a calendar year.

This is for all grants together; not a single grant threshold. So, if you have five grants in a particular year, and they total $750K in expenditures on all of those grants, you are required to have an A-133 Audit.

The A-133 Audits by agencies are not performed by the actual agencies. You, as the government contractor, have to go out and have a CPA perform the A-133 Audits.

We at PWCPA PC are experienced in performing A-133 Audits.
